Job Title: Mechanical Designer Contractor

Primary role is to perform Mechanical Design activities as a Designer:
Supplies design services to projects
during development of systems, and supports design and drafting changes for released products. Will work closely with Project Engineers and Mechanical/Electrical Engineers in the design of systems and their subcomponents. Will work closely will RandD Project Engineers, Product Support Engineers, Supply Chain and OEM/Suppliers.
Responsibility: Detailed design of major electro/mechanical subsystems from conceptualization, first articles, integration and VandV through to full Production. Position requires ability to conceive, design, detail and construct various mechanical components and assemblies using Solid Works CAD program. Must be experienced using Geometric Tolerancing.
Must have a demonstrated capability in understanding technical specifications and requirements for complex systems and their modules, including related CAM design constraints. Will aid, assist, and at times lead and/or perform the building and testing of his/her own designs.
Must be skilled in actively participating in, and in certain cases leading technical discussions which result in decisions to optimize design choices.
Must have the ability to define specific engineering implementations that are reliable, easy to use, cost effective, manufacturable and servicable. Must be familiar with a wide range of manufacturing processes.
Must possess excellent communication and leadership skills. Will be called on to mentor and monitor the design activities of more junior designers.
Skills:
Must have 4-6 years CAD experience.
Expert in Solidworks CAD tools (I-Deas desirable, too) -Assembly definition, part modeling and drafting .
Ability to design complex mechanisms and assemblies.
Be able to perform tolerance analysis (Geometric tolerancing) and skilled in designing for manufacturability, reliability, cost and serviceability.
Experience in FDA regulated environments a plus Experience using a PDM system for configuration management a plus
Education:
Associates Degree / Bachelor's Degree
