The Windows System Engineer plays a leading role in the design, implementation and administration of the Microsoft based systems. This position will be responsible for providing proven architecture and infrastructure experience in the enterprise space applying process, procedures, standards, guidelines and best practices.
Main Responsibilities:
Windows Engineering Services: Oversees all Windows Server deployments; providing guidance in system sizing and design for Enterprise Windows systems.
Documents and implements processes for creation of new servers and workstations on the network, while setting standards and developing and imaging process for user workstation delivery.
Performs high-level performance tuning of servers at both the operating system level and application server level for optimal performance.
Adheres to proper escalation and change control procedures.
Provides level three problem remediation and support.
Documents and implements processes for maintaining, monitoring, training, troubleshooting, capacity planning and availability of systems. Maintains infrastructure documentation current and available.
Engages in personal professional development to stay current with the demand of the position; is a positive influence for the effective use of technology and performs additional related duties as assigned by Management.
Project Management: Spends at least 50% of his or her time performing project management activities such as planning, sizing, configuration, and scheduling.
Contributes to the development of strategies, policies and best practices through participation in management meetings and business requirements.
Develops and articulates solutions based on business or technical requirements ascertained from working with multiple business units across the organization.
Involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design and implementation.
Takes a leadership position in solution designs and fully documents these in architecture and high-level design documents.
Third Party Tools: Reviews and recommends solutions that will improve processes and systems.
Analyzes new and existing vendor software and hardware; provides installation, maintenance and customization of vendor software and hardware as required.
Designs detailed configurations of operating systems and layered products including device management and user environment management. May include system installations and upgrades, operating system and layered product installation and upgrades, patch analysis, installation and management.
Designs, tests, implements, and configures infrastructure solutions for Strategic and Business projects.
Identifies opportunities for improving system quality, service availability and for suggesting improvements to processes and tools.
Experience: 4 YEAR DEGREE
Candidates will possess a minimum of 5 years in an engineering capacity in a production environment with Microsoft Windows 2000/2003, including Active Directory and VMWare.
Support experience should include in-depth use of VISIO, DHCP, WINS, DNS, VMWARE 3/ESX, NETBACKUP, VB SCRIPT, WMI, WSUS, SAV, SMS, MOM, SMTP, IMAP4, POP3, OWA, LCS, LAN/WAN EMC SAN and PowerPath.
Strong working knowledge of IBM servers and blade technology, Exchange 2007, and Windows 2003 Active directory, EMC Clarion.
Available to provide support in a 24x7 production environment.
Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related degree preferred.
Current MCSE and/or MCITP required.
