Jr. VB/VB.NET Programmer/Analyst, 2nd shift (financial industry) in New York, NY

** 3PM to 11PM - Sunday thru Thursday **This person must be able to stand on their own on this shift and interface directly with the traders and provide solutions to all technical programming problems and application support issues.Must have VB.net coding experience 1+ yr IT experience, prefer in the financial industry; strong interpersonal skills, good oral communications skills with ability to multi-task. The candidate should have excellent debugging skills with the ability to work independently. Knowledge of Reuters rates, real time trading or other real time systems a plus. Ideally knowledge Foreign Exchange trading.Primary technology required: Visual Basic, VB.net, JAVA, Excel (VBA Script), SQL queries, Windows 2003, IISSecondary technology: HTML, CSS, Java Script, PHP, ASP, VB Script, ActionScript, Flash, Expression Engine (or any other blogging tools like Movable Type, Blogger), C++.- Knowledge of TSO, COBOL, JCL, SQL/DB2, VSAM and MQ Series a big plus.The individual will be a support resource working the second shift(3PM to 11PM - Sunday thru Thursday in NY City office).Initially, this resource will be required to work in the NJ office between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for about 6-9 months, before transitioning over to second shift in the NY office.He / she would be a member of the Foreign Exchange (FX) ECommerce teamsupporting vendor applications (FX OrderView; web based order management) on distributed platforms, as well as developing new applications, as needed.Some backend distributed and mainframe SQL/DB2 table technologies are also used to interface with the distributed applications. The individual is expected to transfer his/her knowledge to the other members of the FX ECommerce development team. Foreign exchange and market data experience is a big plus.Moving from VB to VB.net, with some basic JAVA and WEB maintenance/development.Will be doing new development in VB.net while maintaining and converting the older VB code into VB.net code.
