Basic Function:Assists in the gathering and analysis of information for defining requirements, specifications and systems designs to support the development of new or existing programs to solve basic to moderately complex problems or enhancements. Performs day-to-day support activities and special projects.Responsibilities:The Staff Analyst will be part of a application development team responsible for the development and maintenance of the bank’s consumer lending mainframe systems.Uses skills and available resources to develop clear, complete technical and functional specifications for small to medium scope efforts, to be reviewed by a more senior programmer. Updates systems documentation.Participates with systems analysts, operations staff and IT staff, as appropriate, in systems and integrated testing. Prepares test data and executes detailed test plans. Performs any required debugging.Evaluates and understands somewhat complex interrelationships and effects among programs and applications.Prepares assessments and task plans to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for small to medium scope assignments, to be reviewed by a more senior programmer.Confers with clients and more senior programmers to gain an understanding of necessary systems changes. Provides consultation services to clients, technology staff and Bank departments on basic to intricate functions of supported applications. This may include the review of system capabilities, operational procedures, forms, marketing materials or cost analysis.May project manage small scope efforts, under the guidance of a more senior programmer or Team Lead.Performs other related duties as required.Follows development standards and procedures.Minimum Qualifications:Associate’s degree or above in an IT field of study or have at least 4 years experience in a related technology environment Excellent written and verbal communication skillsUnderstanding of system development life cycleCOBOL programming experience Ideal Qualifications:Bachelors in Computer ScienceFinance and/or banking backgroundEasytrieve, JCL, CICS experienceShaw RETAIL application experienceM&T Bank application development experienceProject management skills
