Summary
As an Avaya and Cisco VOIP Engineer, you will support all telecommunications activities, including cabling infrastructure, maintenance, installation, configuration, and programming of digital systems, analog phones, and voicemail. You will be the voice project lead for outsourced activities, particularly new office installations and moves. You will also analyze and evaluate present and proposed telecom functions and work with vendors and internal resources to ensure that requirements are addressed. You will develop procedures for use by the Help Desk in performing day-to-day support for the user community. You will be involved in upcoming initiatives as it relates to VOIP and required to write extensive documentation of the systems to ensure a smooth deployment.
Reports to: The VP, User Support Technologies
Duties/Responsibilities

Design, program, install and maintain voice technology systems, including voice, voicemail, digital, and analog phones
Ensure the proper functioning of all telecommunications-related systems and equipment
Lead and coordinate moves, additions, and changes to telephone equipment and installations
Update records in a timely manner
Troubleshoot telecommunication-related systems, including telephone and voicemail systems per office
Work with local office administrators to coordinate providing support for phone additions, moves, and changes within each office
Develop and recommend technical strategies and direction to company management for all telecommunications-related functions
Prepare reports on telecommunications usage and traffic analysis
Manage vendor relationships with telecommunications providers and coordinate with management to negotiate and execute service contracts
Provide project and other support to help desk support staff and network administrators, as needed
Assist in the deployment, maintenance, support, and upgrade of voice, data, audio-visual, and video communication systems
Respond to technical issues within the telecommunications systems and troubleshoot accordingly
Develop and provide documentation on telecommunications-related procedures and processes
Lead and participate in installation, movement, and changes to phone equipment and voicemail, including phone system servers and related software and equipment
Set up new user voicemail and other telecommunications accounts, as needed
Provide training on the phone and voicemail systems to new employees, as well as train and support remote and telecommuting employees
Deliver advanced support on a 7x24 on-call rotation and manage escalations

Experience: Required Background/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field 8+ years experience in the development, implementation, and support of major voice and/or data network systems and services
Experience with Avaya, Cisco, and voicemail systems
Working knowledge and experience with VOIP systems
Working knowledge of networking, including VPN and firewall technologies
Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting voice and telecom issues associated with telecommunication problems

Major Pluses to have

Microsoft, RIM, Avaya, Cisco, or Polycom certifications
Experience with Callegra
