Release Management Lead (RML) The goal of the Release Management Lead is to achieve reliable technology application and infrastructure deployments for test and production environments through precision coordination and the execution of repeatable release management policies and procedures.
The RML is responsible for the definition and execution of release management frameworks including project level execution (adoption of the defined frameworks at the enterprise level upon proven acceptance).
It encompasses the following areas of responsibility: Acts as primary advocate between project development and operations groups.
Manages tool selection for release activities and drives optimizing automation.
Sets operational criteria for promotion among test environments thru release to production. Participates in design; focusing on manageability, supportability, and deployability.
Drives training for operations.
Drives and sets up support for pilot deployment(s).
Plans and manages solution deployment into production.
Ensures that stabilization measurements meet the defined acceptance criteria.
The RML is responsible for release management activities of an IT project within the following functional areas: Infrastructure, Support and Operations.
Infrastructure: This functional area focuses on ensuring that the IT infrastructure for the solution being built or modified and deployed are ready to meet project timelines.
Participate in enterprise and assigned project infrastructure planning.
Coordinate project physical environment use and planning across geographies (data centers, labs, field offices).
Provide the Infrastructure team with policies and procedures for consistent infrastructure management and standards.
Participate in defining infrastructure services (building servers, standard images, installing software).
Oversee hardware/software procurement for the project team.
Oversee the build of test and staging environments that accurately mirror production environments for the project.
b. Support: This functional area focuses on ensuring that the solution built and deployed is supportable during the project and into production.
Provide primary liaison and customer service to the IT users.
Support the business by managing the SLA with the customer and ensuring commitments are met.
Provide project incident and problem resolution; rapid response to user requests and logged incidents.
Give feedback to development and design team.
Develop failover and recovery procedures.
Operations
This functional area describes a set of operations responsibilities that must be satisfied during the project and that the solution built and deployed is operable and compatible with other services in operation.
Account and system setup controls; manage user accounts and permissions.
Messaging, database, telecom operations; network operations.
Systems administration, batch processing. Firewall management; security administration. Application services. Host integration services. Directory service operations. RML responsibilities include partnering with BITS leadership to focus on project team engagement, organizational readiness, stakeholder management and leadership alignment.
Responsibilities include building release management capability within a project team and wider organization impacted by the implementation.
The RML develops policies and procedures including rollout of the Release Management Program in order to build awareness, release management fluency and competency through the release management process developed and deployed.
Main Responsibilities:
40% - Develop and Deploy a framework of policies and procedures required for defining the overall Release Management Program. The program will encompass coordination for staging software/hardware changes into the various test environments and production through multiple project team engagement, organizational readiness, stakeholder management and leadership alignment.
25% - Responsible for execution of release management framework at the project level. Works closely with Q/A Testing Team and existing enterprise CM/RM.
15% - Contribute subject matter expertise by coaching members of project teams and/or Business Unit teams responsible for change during implementation. Attend train the trainer and partner with BITS managers to develop expertise to deliver release management awareness and fluency.
10% - Manage established policies and procedures; applying those protocols to the Facets Solution project team including the wider organization impacts.
5% - Develop and manage work plans, status reports, issue logs and other Project Management Office level activities.
5%- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as required.


Experience: Required Skills:
Innovative thinker to establish a release management program. Bachelor Science-Computer Science degree; MBA is highly desirable.
10+ years of proven experience managing large complex IT projects.
5+ years of proven experience managing environment change in a large heavily integrated IT environment. Broad knowledge of IT systems. Ability to plan and execute work with minimal supervision. Experience creating and executing policies and procedures; including work plans. Experience managing and driving employee behavior change. Excellent communication and writing skills, with ability to frame change message and facilitate discussion. Leadership experience to managing staff and/or assigned resources. Ability to deal with ambiguity. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Business fluency in English. Desired Skills: 5 + years Healthcare experience.
