Summary
As Manager of UNIX, Windows, and SAN Administration, you will be a critical senior-level manager within our technology team. Managing UNIX, Windows, Web Server, and Production Database administrators, you will be responsible for the care and maintenance of all aspects of our production environment. You will build and manage an outstanding, quality infrastructure and operations team able to support our fast-growing organization. You will be a technical leader in the Infrastructure and Operations team.
Duties/Responsibilities
Reports to: The VP of Operations

Provide strategic planning, guidance and implementation efforts surrounding the security, compliance, performance, scalability, and standardization of our client-server environment, including:

Assist the technology leadership team in identifying server/production environment policies to ensure alignment of broader organizational growth plans and sustainability
Institutionalize system maintenance schedule and reporting for accountability
Implement defined technology policies and procedures, while recommending enhancements and amendments, where appropriate
Guide the design and implementation of technology projects as it affects the server environment
Work closely with the Production Release manager to ensure deployments are planned, staged and approved, and help establish change control for production systems and applications
Work closely with the Security Analyst to research and recommend policies as they relate to security and efficient use of network and server resources
Work closely with the Systems Architect team to build a solid production infrastructure across multiple platforms and explore the possibility of server virtualization
Ensure systems are tested and in place for disaster recovery and business continuity expectations
Implement and manage standardization where possible to maintain a high level of efficiency while minimizing support requirements
Assist in budgeting process as it relates to area of responsibility
Provide governance through scheduled quality reviews
Identify areas of risks and actively work with cross-functional teams

Provide senior-level support and guidance across our client/server environment, including:

Provide daily mentoring and coaching to the Production Systems team (Windows, Unix, Web, DBA) to ensure effective use and deployment of servers, projects, and technologies
Monitor capacity, performance, and development of servers
Work closely with the VP of Application Development to ensure reliability and stability of servers that support our critical applications
Provide off-hours availability, as needed, for response to server and system emergencies and maintenance schedules reflecting minimal impact to our customers
Provide senior-level, hands-on troubleshooting when required for the production environment


You must possess the following qualities:

Strong leadership skills
Must be detail-oriented, extremely organized, and have exceptional writing and communication skills
Ability to think strategically (9-12 months or more out) as well as tactically (3-9 months out) and understand how to implement and stage activities over a frame of time that lead to the culmination of a strategic initiative

Experience: Required Background/Experience

BA/BS degree
10+ years of systems administration experience in a production environment, of which 5+ years have been with management
Experience mentoring system administrators on technology best practices for UNIX as well as Windows
Extensive experience in software deployment, scripting, and networking as it affects the server layer
Extensive experience with Backup/Recovery, SAN/NAS, Windows Active Directory Infrastructure, MS Exchange, MS SQL Server, IIS, UNIX/Linux, Web servers, and Disaster Recovery Technologies

Major Pluses to have

Experience in VMWare or server virtualization
Working experience in a fast-paced, high-growth organization
