QA Manager in NEW YORK, NY

The Software QA Manager will develop and mature our QA processes. This includes our QA strategy, test plans, and test procedures necessary to validate the applications. The candidate will develop, mentor and manage a team of Quality Assurance Analysts who operate collaboratively with the product team’s business analysts and developers to evaluate the applications fit for use.

What you will do:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of our Firm and its business applications through a hands-on use, specification review, and conversations with in-house product designers and developers.
• Determine a testing strategy (manual and automated) that is in accordance with the product’s timeline and strategic goals.
• Sets test policy, procedures and data preparation as well as establishes QA metrics.
• Develop test plans and prioritize testing efforts across the QA group to meet product and project schedules.
• Recommends quality improvements or changes to senior management, developing processes, procedures, and systems and software work products to correct potential deficiencies.
• Explore, recommend and implement various testing tools and approaches to help mature our application testing strategy.
• Manage personal and team resources to meet simultaneous project deadlines.
• Manage QA environments to ensure correctness and completeness of coverage.
Experience: • A technical background and experience working with client/server and browser-based applications.
• Programming or business system analyst experiences preferred.
• Must be able to act independently objectively from product and development teams in executing our QA strategy.
• Must be hands on and have experience in working directly and coordinating plans with software development, business analyst, and supporting areas.
• Strong organization, project planning and multi-tasking skills also required.
• Familiar with black box testing as well as gray box testing.
• Experience with a variety of testing tools and approaches, manual and automated regression testing.
• Ability to estimate, plan, and execute testing cycles.
• Experience directing and/or executing manual or automated testing for applications.
• Defect Trending and Triage experience.
• Knowledge of Rational and Selenium tools a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a staff manager.
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Software QA Manager.
• Must have experience testing web based products.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• BS in CS or equivalent work experience.
