Our client is requesting a two-year contract (1 year with one (1) optional one-year renewal) to procure the services of a senior level systems engineer to support the physical and logical complexities of a Microsoft Windows Server Enterprise. The Microsoft Windows Server Enterprise encompasses a Central Office computing center located in Albany, 26 psychiatric facilities throughout NYS, and a disaster recovery site in located in Utica. The installation, configuration, maintenance, and problem resolution of the hardware, operating systems, business software, virtualization products, and directory services that comprise the computing environment requires support by an individual with an advanced level of expertise in the areas described below. Expertise in these areas is paramount to the high security and availability requirements of the patient, financial, and administrative systems employed at the OMH. The candidate will provide support for a local and wide-area 200+ server enterprise, enterprise directory services, Thin Client architecture, server virtualization products, and provide consulting services with regard to server technologies to both staff and consultants. The systems engineer should be Microsoft Certified and equipped with an advanced level of experience in order to provide high level expertise and guidance in the technologies employed at the client site. Specific areas will include: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 web services, configuration, cluster management, message queuing, and patch management; Microsoft Active Directory administration Access Control, DNS, DHCP, WINS; Citrix Presentation Server 4 and XenApp; BizTalk; SQL Server 2005 Cluster; server virtualization specific to VMware ESXi and vSphere. The candidate will provide area specific support to other consulting staff in the development and maintenance of custom and commercially written software. Potential areas of support include, but are not limited to: troubleshooting of installation issues, security configurations, script debugging, and diagnostic tracing of network paths and configurations. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to assist the technical and application staff, contractors, and end-users of various levels of experience Assignments Under direction of the CIT Manager, the system engineer will provide onsite technical support to CIT staff and Facility Information Center Coordinators. Work assignments will include, but may not be limited to: Assist in the installation and configuration of custom and commercially written software employed on the Microsoft Windows Server platform. Assist in the installation and configuration of server and related network hardware, storage devices, and other peripherals employed and related to the Microsoft Windows Server platform. Develop and maintain accurate and thorough documentation for all assigned projects and problem resolutions. Troubleshoot all Microsoft Windows Server components and Active Directory problems and issues and provide input on configuration settings. Troubleshoot all custom and commercial applications installed to Microsoft Windows Server platforms and provide input on configuration settings. Utilize 3rd party utilities to facilitate problem resolution. Submit weekly reports of completed and outstanding tasks and issues. Adhere to the software installation and migration standards and procedures. Research and recommend best practices for administering the Microsoft Windows Server environment. Research, recommend, and incorporate the highest security settings possible on all software configured for the server environment and report possible security issues. Mentor staff and conduct knowledge transfer on all assigned projects. We need 2 references (Name, Title, Contact Number and Email address).
