ndividual will work with the Electronic Products team and be responsible for the following database related activities - monitoring, performance tuning, configuration oversight, maintenance, security, replication configuration tasks. The individual will also be reviewing changes to the supported systems and optimize them for better performance.You will interface with Team Leads and Senior Software Engineers on a regular basis, as well as with Product Management and Product Strategy on an as needed basis. You will provide reports and updates and participate in meetings to resolve open issues.You will participate in the capacity planning, design and implementation of new projects. Accordingly, you will plan for database capacity and configuration changes.Technical Skills and Experience:Database engineer with 4+ years experience in Sybase and MS SQL 2000. Experienced in performing the following activities:- Troubleshooting data and database related problems and facilitate resolution- Performance tuning - Optimizing query plans and reviewing queries and stored procedures- Performance testing and capacity planning- Data replication and log shipping- Database design and data modeling- Automating monitoring tasks and other regular house keeping tasks- Detecting and eliminating performance bottlenecks in database configurations- Microsoft and HACMP Clustering technologies- Database and data security- Windows 2003 and AIX administration a plus- Knowledge of multi-tiered web applications is preferredStrong communication and analytical skills are required. The successful candidate will be disciplined in support procedures and configuration management processes. Must have the ability to work individually and as a part of a team. Database certifications will be a strong plus.A college degree in Computer Science is preferred.
