The project consists of re-architecting an existing Java-based business system rules engine. The rules engine operates within a batch environment against large datasets.
Key components of the project will address expanding the current rules engine functionality, enhancing processing performance, and increasing rule flexibility. The new design should also be more user-friendly.
Technical Requirements:
1)Experienced in writing Java applications to process large data sets.
2)In-depth knowledge on Threading, Hash Mapping, and JDBC technologies.
3)Expert in tuning Java processes.
4)Prior experience with designing Business System Rules Engines a plus.
5)Must have an understanding of Inference or Deterministic type rule
engines. (Example: Rete I, II, III Algorithms, Forward Chaining, Jess java implementation).
6)Extensive skills in developing batch related processes.
7)Knowledgeable of Java Tuning Tools with the emphasis on memory and performance.
8)Must be able to interact with business users to gather business requirements and test prototypes.
9)Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing and test plan creation.

Other related skill sets:
1)Should be able to demonstrate skills within Oracle 9i including SQL Tuning (Explain Plans/ applying Hints to SQL) and indexing methodologies. 2)Toad or SQL-Navigator

4)Light knowledge of Unix Shell scripts (KSH or SH Shell)
