Infrastructure Support Technician in New York, NY

The Navy Cash system replaces the use of cash on
board US Naval vessels with smartcards. As a
ship-side infrastructure support technician, you
will help the Navy Cash system evolve to meet the
needs of this program as it doubles in size over
the next two years. You will be responsible for
the configuration, installation, repair and
support of Navy Cash installations in the field
(lab, helpdesk and shipboard). In addition, you
will ensure the successful delivery of
infrastructure and application projects into the
Navy Cash production environment and help to
define appropriate support structures for ongoing
maintenance and support.

Key responsibilities:
· Configuration of equipment and hardware
including servers, workstations, laptops, and
routers
· Resolve networking and Windows OS
issues
· Load, configure, and test software when new
releases of hardware and software are received
· Provide support to ship-board personnel for
system hardware
· Occasionally visit ships to supervise system
implementations
· Support Navy Cash application
developers
· Coordinate with other technical personnel, organizations, and external vendors
· Develop, review, and edit system, support, and training documentation


Experience: Qualifications:

Required:
5 years experience within IT
Knowledge of servers and workstations
Experience with Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Edition, NT 4.0 Workstation, 2000 Advanced Server, 2000 Professional
Familiarity with TCP/IP, LANs and WANs
Excellent verbal and written communication
skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented
environment
Willingness to travel infrequently

Desirable:
SQL, Oracle PL/SQL
Banking/finance industry experience
Multi-threaded, real-time transaction processing
experience
Experience with smartcard systems
Military, ideally US Navy, experience
Visual basic is a major plus
