Primary Objective Perform system administration functions for Investment Management as required to support the users of the Charles River Investment Management System (CRIMS). This includes supporting all issues relating to daily production cycles, as well as daily questions and/or problems from the traders and fund managers in New York, including Hartford operational issues. Administrative functions include support for testing new releases, scheduling and monitoring of all production interfaces, ensuring the systems are in balance, identifying and resolving day to day problems, and supporting ad hoc reporting requests. Additionally, provide business and analytical expertise in defining business specifications for system enhancements as well as providing technical expertise for development efforts involving Charles River data.Major AccountabilitiesIndividual will become an expert in all aspects of the Charles River IMS system.Expected to build a strong rapport with the traders, fund managers, front office & back office IT support staff, operations personnel as well as the Charles River vendor staff.Perform a liaison role between operations and all users of Charles River IMS, as well as the support staff for both internal systems, external systems and various data providers.Develop a familiarity with the database structure, content and processing cycles to serve as an expert in Charles River IMS system maintenance requirements. Support user report requests using Crystal Report Writer software.Serve as the expert in understanding how Charles Rivers IMS interacts with other systems and vendor systems. Support the user community with prompt, effective problem resolution.Develop a familiarity with all system interfaces and controls. This would include Charles Rivers IMS production load cycles of securities, holdings, valuation feeds, various market data feeds as well as investment data from PORTIA, daily reconciliations between PORTIA and related systems and a number of other internally developed interfaces and processes.Become an expert on all aspects of Charles Rivers IMS pre-trade and post-trade compliance engine. This would include working closely with Compliance Group, developing, and maintaining all of the firms compliance tests stored within Chares River IMS, as well as the daily data flow required to support the tests.Develop an expertise with Charles River systems modeling, rebalancing and portfolio analysis features, as well as the support for the data that drives these processes. Project management and/or project participation on system development projects. This will include participating in a variety of departmental system initiatives, involvement in business continuity issues and providing ad hoc reporting as necessary.Candidate must have strong communication skills to facilitate prompt problem resolution, effective communication within all levels of the organization as well as the creation of detailed system specifications.

Requirements:

Requisite QualificationsThree or more years experience in the support of PC and LAN based computer systems. Strong PC and LAN literacy. Experience with Charles River IMS would be a strong plus. Familiarity with another Trading System, Order Management System or a Securities Accounting system needed. Consideration will be given to Securities Operations experience. Strong familiarity with reporting writing packages Impromptu, Crystal or Infomaker is required. Familiarity with Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Access and Visual Basic for Applications is required. Project management and/or project participation on system development projects is useful. Experience in a high volume production environment. The ability to handle changing priorities and a proven ability for problem resolution. Flexibility to adjust hours a required to affect problem resolution. Overtime may be required during peek periods.EducationBS in Information Systems or Business Administration with a focus on computers, or equivalent work experience.
