The Data Architect / Modeler for the Data Administration & Data Governance Department will be responsible for ensuring the proper data is available to achieve the business objectives for application development, analytical reporting and analysis. This position will also be responsible for the development of enterprise data models at the conceptual, logical, and physical levels, be able to identify and promote best practices and patterns for data modeling, and provide oversight activities related to data cleansing, data quality and data consolidation using standard data modeling methodologies and processes. This person will have the capabilities in conceptual analysis, problem solving, and data analysis, and be able to conduct user interviews and data analysis review meetings to identify the key facts and dimensions necessary to support the business requirements.




Experience: Key Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the development of enterprise data models at the conceptual and logical levels, be able to identify and promote best practices and patterns for data modeling, and provide oversight activities related to data cleansing, data quality and data consolidation using standard data modeling methodologies and processes.

* High level of collaboration with IT management, IT Architects, IT Analysts, development staff, and business users in the design, modeling, and implementation of physical database structures to support new and ongoing application development.

* Will have expertise in conceptual analysis, problem solving, and data analysis, and be able to conduct user interviews and data analysis review meetings to identify the key facts and dimensions necessary to support the business requirements. Also responsible for identifying opportunities for sharing and utilizing business data across program boundaries, thus extracting maximum benefit from the data resource. 10%

* Collaborates with Data Administrators, Data Analysts, and development staff to develop and maintain the metadata architecture to maximize its use and increases the business's understanding of corporate data. This includes the design and implementation of an enterprise metadata maintenance and delivery application.

* Generate and maintain logical and physical data models for all phases of application development and data warehousing that adhere industry best practices and corporate and industry standards.

* Provides input into the use of data models by the Enterprise BI and reporting tool to maximize usefulness of corporate data structures by business users.

* Supports the collection and reporting of corporate metadata for development and business use.

* Promote sharing of corporate data, managing information as a resource, and continue efforts to prepare the culture for the information management impacts of the continuous changes to business via data integration from a business perspective.



Experience & Skills:

. Bachelors degree and minimum of 5 years work experience required

. Secondary degree in Computer Science/MIS/CIS preferred

. 3 - 5 years of IT work experience in business intelligence tools and systems, data modeling, data management, data quality, and metadata strategies

. 3 - 5 years of experience in full lifecycle data warehousing.

. Experience with one of more of the following database engines: Sybase, SQL Server
