Java Programmer in Albany, NY

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking two Java Programmers to assist in the development and implementation of a bi-directional data and information exchange system application to improve situational awareness during emergencies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Code prototypes and test designs under the direction of the technical lead following the design created by the application architect.
• Build interfaces required between the in-house system and the reporting external entities, following the design created by the application architect.

Experience: To be considered for the position, candidates must possess the following mandatory skills and experience:

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in designing complex applications using object oriented methodology creating use cases, class diagrams, interaction and sequence diagrams and recognizing design patterns.
• Three (3) years hands-on experience in programming Java applications from specifications expressed by use cases, class diagrams, interaction diagrams and sequence diagrams.
• Two (2) years of complex Java programming experience using a MVC J2EE framework.
• Two (2) years experience coding Java Server Pages (JSP).

Candidates who possess the following desirable experience will be considered first:

• Experience communicating with team members, including programmers and/or users. This includes activities such as preparation of user manuals, thorough system/program documentation, status reports, participation in design meetings, and requirements gathering.
• Proven ability to transfer knowledge and mentor team members via technical training sessions, developing guidelines/standards, and conducting code reviews.
• Two (2) years experience using STRUTS or a similar java development framework.
• One (1) year experience using JavaScript.
• One (1) year experience using HTML.
