Responsibilities:
-Perform database installations, upgrades and configuration;
-Set up backup and recovery procedures for Markets' databases;
-Design, test and implement Oracle high availability solutions;
-Perform periodic exercises to validate backup and recovery procedures;
-Perform maintenance, monitoring and tuning of Markets databases;
-Monitor production data processes, performance and database capacity issues;
-Provide support in database design and application development;
-Administer and monitor database security;
-Develop, implement and maintain DBA policies, procedures/manuals;
-Participate in the configuration, installation, testing/evaluation, implementation, monitoring administration of all Market Group Sun systems including offsite contingency systems;
-Assist with security administration for the Group's computers and applications;
-Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary;
-Participation in rotating off hours, weekend and contingency site coverage.
Requirements:
-Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 3+ years relevant work experience as a DBA with Oracle 9.x and Oracle 10G;
-Knowledge of 10g Grid Control
-Strong knowledge of Oracle internals and procedural language (PL/SQL);
-Strong knowledge of Oracle High Availability solutions: DataGuard, and RAC;
-Strong knowledge of Oracle RMAN;
-Good knowledge of Veritas NetBackup and Cluster Server;
-Proven experience managing large-scale databases in a mission critical environment;
-At least 3+ years experience working in and administering a medium or large Sun Solaris based computing environment;
-Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and highly responsible to time critical issues; and
-Strong communication and customer service skills.
