Oracle Database Administrator in Schenectady, NY

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a multi-faceted Oracle Database Administrator to join our Albany, NY team. The successful candidate should possess a minimum of two years experience with Oracle Database administration (9i/10g), a background in Java programming in web environments, and experience with HP/Open/VMS and UNIX operating systems. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Creation of new IBM/AIX servers for Oracle 10g databases
  • Installation and administration of the HP/UX systems for the Oracle 9i form application servers.
  • Perform the upgrade and migration of applications to the new platforms.
  • Data backup systems such as Sysback, Ignite, and Veritas, also need to be administered.

Experience:
To be considered for the position, candidates must possess the following mandatory skills and experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience programming in a Java web environment. At least one (1) year of that experience within the last 24 months.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience with Korn shell and scripted system utilities. At least one (1) year of that experience must be within the last 24 months.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as an Oracle DBA.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience analyzing complex computer systems/environments.


Candidates with the following desirable experience will be considered first:
  • Experience with HP/Open/VMS operating systems.
  • Experience with Unix operating systems (i.e. IBM, AIX, HP/UX, HP Tru64, Red Hat Linux).
  • Experience with writing programs interfacing with Active Directory.
  • Experience with writing programs interfacing with LDAP.
  • Experience with writing programs interfacing with third-party APIs.
  • Experience with UNIX utilities such as FTP, SSH, SUDO.
  • Experience with web servers/application servers (i.e. SunOne, Apache, Tomcat).
  • Experience programming and developing within an HP/Open/VMS environment.
  • Experience working in Intersystem's Cache environment.
  • Experience with system performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Experience with system security analysis.
