Direct hire or 3 month Contract to Direct hire SQL Server DBA with a minimum of 5 years of overall experience with SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. Advanced skills required with failover and clustering helpful. Job will require installation and support of large corporate databases and servers.
Experience: Required Skills:
. Minimum 4 years experience as a SQL*Server 2000 Database Administrator
o Fluent with backup and recovery techniques
o Expertise with replication
o Experience with High Availability options (log shipping/standby server)
o Familiar with DTS functionality
o Experience installing Service Pack releases
. Minimum 1 year experience as a SQL*Server 2005 Database Administrator managing a large (>30 gb) database installation
o Fluent with backup and recovery techniques
o Expertise with replication
o Experience with High Availability options (log shipping/standby server & data mirroring)
o Experience with SSIS functionality
o Experience installing Service Pack releases
. Demonstrated knowledge of T-SQL
. Experience with Database design & tuning techniques
. Solid understanding of Windows operating system, .Net framework, VB or other command-level scripting
. Demonstrated proficiency as a strong technical leader
o Experience with cross-function project teams
o Skilled listener and communicator
. Willing to participate in after hours on-call support rotation (approx 1 shift per month) and other week-end or evening duties (projects work, support releases, patching)
Preferred Skills:
. Experience managing a very large database (> 100gb)
o SQL*Server Failover clustering experience would be a big plus !!
. 5 years experience as a Sr. SQL*Server Database Administrator
. Reporting Services and IAS knowledge a plus
. Familiarity with DB Artisan, NetIQ and Red Gate tools for SQL*Server
. Oracle 9i/10g database administration
o strong working knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL
. Knowledge of Excel, MS Project, MS Access and Powerpoint
