Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 3+ years relevant work experience as a DBA with Oracle 9.x and Oracle 10G;
1+ year working experience with Oracle 10g. Knowledge of 10g Grid Control
Strong knowledge of Oracle internals and procedural language (PL/SQL);
Strong knowledge of Oracle High Availability solutions: DataGuard, and RAC;
Strong knowledge of Oracle RMAN;
Good knowledge of Veritas NetBackup and Cluster Server;
Proven experience managing large-scale databases in a mission critical environment;
At least 3+ years experience working in and administering a medium or large Sun Solaris based computing environment;
Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and highly responsible to time critical issues; and
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Desirables:
Good working knowledge of IBM WebSphere based applications;
Strong knowledge of Perl; and
Familiarity with Sybase AES on Solaris a plus.
Responsibilities:
Perform database installations, upgrades and configuration;
Set up backup and recovery procedures for Markets' databases;
Design, test and implement Oracle high availability solutions;
Perform periodic exercises to validate backup and recovery procedures;
Perform maintenance, monitoring and tuning of Markets databases;
Monitor production data processes, performance and database capacity issues;
Provide support in database design and application development;
Administer and monitor database security;
Develop, implement and maintain DBA policies, procedures/manuals;
Participate in the configuration, installation, testing/evaluation, implementation, monitoring administration of all Market Group Sun systems including offsite contingency systems;
Assist with security administration for the Group's computers and applications;
Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary; and
Participation in rotating off hours, weekend and contingency site coverage.
