Job Responsibilities
Mobile ESPN is seeking a manager of software engineering to lead a team of developers and technical producers in the analysis, design, implementation, release and maintenance of mobile applications and content delivery systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technical software leader to become a key member of the product development team, delivering tight and reliable code running on and powering the delivery of content to Mobile ESPN handsets. The right candidate will influence and organize the team in this cutting edge wireless software environment.
The successful candidate will use superior technical and leadership skills to focus the team on meeting aggressive timelines with a high level of quality. The position will work closely with internal and external resources to create and maintain solutions that integrate wireless devices with the web infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysis, design, development, unit testing, release management and maintenance of mobile applications and supporting client/server architectures
- Prepare and maintain technical specifications and other documents required for successful delivery of reliable and scalable applications and systems
- Assist developers in completion of tasks and assignments to ensure timely completion of projects
- Prepare, perform and document unit tests results
- Design and code reviews
Experience: Required Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience designing and developing complex data driven systems server systems with an emphasis on scalability, reliability and ease of integration
- Must be process oriented, thorough and disciplined
- Development experience with Java and SQL
- 5-7 years of software development experience with Java
- 2-3 years experience leading a software development team
- Proven track record leading successful software development teams
- Expert knowledge of and experience in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SWDLC)
- Familiar with wireless products such as mobile phones, Palm and pocket PCs
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of BREW is a plus.
