Retail Database Manager - Implementation and Support in NEW YORK, NY

Robert Half Technology is currently recruiting for a Database Manager for one of our clients in Manhattan. This person will
support customer applications including programming, reports, database maintenance, workstation connectivity, user support, user training, and user account administration. In house applications are WEB based ERP and POS systems and applications. End users of these systems support several distinct environments corp. support, retails stores, a wholesale division, and web sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide SQL Server database management support services to include both end-user activities and technical database support functions, such as troubleshooting and configuration specific to ERP, POS and WEB
Provide data entry, storage, and retrieval techniques and technologies; integrate databases into software systems; and provide database application analyses, design, development, configuration and management.
Provide database design assistance for system enhancements and new systems development, including but not limited to logical data modeling, normalizing, de-normalizing, and physical table design.
Develop and maintain thorough documentation of all production databases in accordance with set policies and procedures.
Migrate legacy systems into emerging enterprise systems development, and modernize legacy systems into web enabled applications; to maximize database performance, availability and security, and perform database administration tasks in a controlled fashion.
Support projects involving any new or existing database implementations that have any impact on the existing or planned systems, to include administering applications within available test environments on separate systems from production for patch testing, version changes and troubleshooting.
Schedule and run database jobs; develop and run customized and ad-hoc reports; and support data extraction and manipulation requests.
Perform and monitor all database backups and restore database in response to minor and/or major database failures.

Desired Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience and be proficient in Microsoft SQL Server, database design, procedure, function, and package design and creation, development tools, language and development environments and tools, and general web based development and maintenance.
Substitution of additional relevant education and/or experience for stated qualifications may be considered
Strong working knowledge of retail, wholesale and web relational database, reports, Crystal Reports, PL/SQL Developer, and Microsoft Excel.
