Vice President - Technology Services in NEW YORK, NY

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vice President & Head of Technology Services is responsible for the following tasks:
Management of Production:
Build (automate), test, optimize and support the entire Production environment including end of day, end of month and end of year. Conceptualize and manage the daily, weekly and monthly checklists and procedures. This includes escalation processes and follows up.
Conceptualize and manage the technical infrastructure of the Firm(LAN/WAN):
This includes recommending new hardware and negotiating deals for new technologies (in relation with the vendor in charge of our outsourced data center). In addition, he/she must maintain him/herself up to date with the latest technology utilized by the Firm. Manage all IT Infrastructure Projects and manage the Network operations including the trading and banking systems.
Manage the relationship with the vendor in charge of our outsourced data center:
This includes the follow-up of the vendor SLA, specification of new hardware, performance improvement planning and follow-up.
Business Recovery Planning:
He/she is responsible for developing and maintaining policies related to all Business Recovery facets. This includes updating of departmental BCP documentation utilizing the BPSI software tool, to insure the BR plan is current and reflects the business demands. This includes negotiating and maintaining a relationship with BR site providers and third party providers. Managing and updating the IT Infrastructure at the DR Site and the Recovery of the Network including all systems and applications. Managing the BRP team in coordination with compliance management

Management of Helpdesk:
Management of the staff who perform daily user helpdesk tasks: problem resolution relating to LAN management, information security applications, desktop applications, e-mail and all applications supported by the IT Department. This also includes Internet, firewall, and office automation issues.

Project Methodology and project involvement:
Participate to any IT project requiring technical assistance: management of development and test environments, preparation and testing of production scripts, in relation with the project managers and developers.
Apply IT Project Methodology in a professional way.

He/she must continuously consult with the Head of Information Technology keeping him/her updated with the department state of affairs.
Employee will also perform functions as required for transactions and activities with respect to other offices and provide technical support, purchasing and other IT assistance.

OTHER ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage contracts, licensing for applications and software and new equipment orders in coordination with the Head of IT. Responsible for the IT Security of the Network. Researching and proposing new technologies in support of the Head of IT to the IT Steering Committee. Provide Audit with all the necessary information regarding all Technical setup. Assist the Head of IT in putting together the Budget concerning his responsibilities’ scope.
Serve as the department Business Continuity liaison to the Operational Risk BCP Coordinator in developing and maintaining a viable department recovery program in the event that the Firm must evacuate its premises due to an emergency. This responsibility includes updating department plans using the automated software BPSI in order to document department needs and recovery plans.
Serve as a member of the Emergency Management Team (EMT) in support of the Emergency Management Committee’s directives
Experience: Financial Services Experience is HEAVILY DESIRED

Education: This position requires a college degree/technical training or equivalent job experience.

Technical environment: The Firms main systems are the following: UNIX (AIX and Solaris) servers, Windows servers. A practical and in depth knowledge of UNIX services and Windows servers management is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of trading applications and ETL tools is a plus.
Our Databases are mainly SQL and Sybase.
A very good understanding of database management is mandatory for this position.

Job Knowledge (# years of experience): This position requires a minimum of 5 to 10 years of technical experience and a minimum of 3 years of Management experience. He/she should have a good understanding of all Financial products and regulations.

Management Skills: He/she must have leadership skills to manage and lead this IT Division. He/she must have technical training and experience in the area of IT, strong communication and written skills, interpersonal skills. He/she must be a team player and be flexible to changes that affect the department. This function also requires a relationship with the vendors and the Consultants involved in projects.

Decision-making: The Head of Technology Services must be ready to react to any emergency situation and be able to resolve all issues affecting the department in a professional manner.
Flexibility: In view of the rapidly changing IT environment, flexibility for infrequent evening or weekend work is required.
Working Conditions/Environment: The Head of Technology Services must be able to work in a fast paced multi-tasking and multi-faceted environment. He/she must keep up with the high end-user demands and always by available and accessible.
