Summary
As Vice President of Software Engineering, you will be accountable for research, product development, product quality, documentation, and packaging functions. You will develop R&D policies and procedures and oversee R&D activities, and ensure that the company is current regarding software technologies. You will be responsible for the successful product delivery of an enterprise-wide, Internet-based product. You will be in charge of 30+ employees and 5+ direct reports, with each direct report having multiple projects. You will have a chance to grow with a company having a niche market with a huge growth potential.
Reports to: The Chief Information Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for multiple product development teams, including resource allocation, budgeting, outsourcing allocation, and personnel development
Guide and help people through changes in the business or organization
Keep executive-level management informed of department progress and problems
Ensure that software development and research teams support product initiatives as well as the strategic objectives of our organization
Provide oversight and direction on the development of new products, and drive the constant improvement of product lines
Provide analysis and insights into the competitive landscape, including market trends and competitor strategies
Monitor research processes and research analyses to detect problems and implement improvements
Nurture motivation within technical team
Remain current on changes regarding software technology

Experience: Required Background/Experience
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of experience in the management of enterprise software development
Excellent management skills with in-depth knowledge of enterprise software development design procedures and objectives
Experience with J2EE open-source technologies
Experience with the complete software development lifecycle
Experience with agile methodology
