Systems Administrator in VALHALLA, NY

This position is responsible for system administration of UNIX/Linux and Windows servers spread across multiple hardware platforms.

• Installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux and Windows operating systems
• Install, configure and support all network and infrastructure equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, SPAM firewall, LDAP, VPN, and DNS servers)
• Utilize system monitoring tools and take appropriate action when alerted
• Troubleshoot and analyze network issues, and provide solutions
• Perform and monitor daily system backups
• Install, configure and maintain databases
• Develop shell scripts to improve efficiency and automate system task
• Create and maintain system documentation

• Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years in administering Linux/UNIX operation systems and at least 1-2 years administering Windows Servers/Desktops.
• Ability to work well in a team environment with several administrators as well as individually

• Knowledge of Windows Server 2000 & 2003 a major plus
• In depth understanding of Linux(CentOS, Redhat, Suse)
• Load Balancers including Linux Virtual Server and ldirector with heartbeat a plus
• Possess and utilize project management skills (planning, sourcing, and reviewing)
• MySQL Database administration and replication
• Experience with System Monitoring deployments
• Knowledge of network routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, DNS and LDAP servers
• Experience with planning and executing successful Disaster Recovery plans
• Knowledge of email systems including Exchange, postfix, and sendmail
• Experience with large storage arrays (DELL, EMC, Isilon, & Aberdeen a plus)
• Firewalls administration (Global Technology Association – GB2000 a plus)
• SPAM Firewall administration (Barracuda 300 a plus)
• Experience with Virtualization Implementations, Automated Tape Libraries, and Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) a plus
