Systems/Network Engineer

SmartSource, Inc is representing a leading IT Solutions Provider in Elmira Heights, NY. Our client has been in business for over 20 years has a great opportunity for a skilled, motivated and energetic Systems Engineer to join their team. Successful candidate will be responsible for installation, administration and ongoing support of multiple customer network environments. This includes hands on work with all aspects of a network - servers, network infrastructure, PCs, printers and applications. Candidate should possess proficient knowledge of network infrastructure, hardware, applications and operations and excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem resolution capabilities. Experience should include Microsoft Active Directory, routing, switching, security, remote access, VPN, wireless and other IT technologies.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementation and administration of LAN, WAN/VPN, and server infrastructure
- Installation, maintenance and support of servers, PCs, networking equipment and operating systems and applications software
- Excellent troubleshooting and issue resolution capabilities
- Ability to evaluate new technologies, products and services for implementation at client locations
- Provide training and support of new technologies
- Monitor and troubleshoot networks and provide remote and on-site support
- Computer and printer hardware repair
- Software upgrades and patches to workstations
- Documenting customer issues and issue resolution in established trouble ticket system
- Work with vendors on upgrades, technical support and systems troubleshooting
- Perform other work related duties as requested or required
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelors degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent certifications experience
- Industry certifications: CompTIA A+; CompTIA Network +, Microsoft MCP, MSCE, HP desktop, printers and other industry certifications from Cisco, Citrix, VMWare, SonicWall, Apple etc. a strong plus
- 5 or more years experience in a network and PC support role with demonstrated experience working with computer and other information technology systems including network infrastructure, hardware, software and peripheral devices.
- Customer service focus and must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and present professional image
- Must be a self starter and possess the ability to learn quickly.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with limited supervision
- Superior troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of PC hardware and computer maintenance
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows 2003/XP/2000/Vista operating systems
- Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Office applications
- Familiar with TCP/IP and Networking protocols
- Familiar with anti-virus and security software
- Ability to work after hours and weekends as necessary
- Local and regional travel as needed and must have and maintain a valid drivers license, a good driving record, and a reliable vehicle suitable for transportation
