Shirt-sleeve and very hands-on Senior Open System Engineer: Responsible for the system design and implementation of large scale SOLARIS and AIX deployments. The SUCCESSFUL candidate will manage, maintain and support a large number of medium to enterprise class systems utilizing proprietary and traditional Unix tools. Research and develop new technologies and best practices Implementation of complex and comprehensive solutions. Project work and development of new services and tools, analyze new and existing commercial middleware applications and utilities. Author and maintain technical design documentation and operational procedures Develop detailed technical documentation including the use of diagrams, flowcharts, project specifications, and translations of user requirements to technical functions. Engage software development staff to design and troubleshoot applications in an enterprise environment. You must be CAPABLE and COMFORTABLE in performing build, break/fix, installs, applications (Test and Production) support, bug fixes or troubleshooting and "fire fighting" one day and the being a team member for a design or the Project Manager of an Independent design solution. The rate of change within your purview will be very fast paced; in a heart beat you could be evaluating/researching new products.You will be screened for current basic scripting and programming skills, logic skills to the expert level of Systems Administration.Position may require off-hour support at times.
Experience: Qualifications:*10 years experience in UNIX Systems Administration required - Sun Solaris ( Primary), AIX. Linux is a plus*Project management skills.*Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.*Excellent understanding of networking principles: TCP/IP, UDP, Routing, DNS.*Good understanding of Storage and related Products: Solaris Volume Manager, Veritas Volume Manager, EMC, Hitachi, NAS*Strong Scripting ability in Perl, Korn Shell is plus *Excellent written and verbal communications skills.*Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision.*Proven leadership skills and knowledge of automating enterprise application deployments.*Bachelors Degree or equivalent required.Salary $110-130,000 bonus to $150,000 package.
