BUSINESS ANALYST/PROJECT & PRODUCT MANAGER This position is within the Enterprise Data Group. EDG is responsible for creating and managing the data architecture that enables the firm to develop and use enterprise referential data (ref data) to perform end-to-end business processing, regulatory and risk management, and develop dynamic client and sales reporting. EDG's current scope of ref data management includes Clients and Accounts, Organizational Data, Documents, Products, Legal Entity, and Static Reference data across the entire firm. This position is Accounts focused. EDG Project/Product Managers are responsible for managing databases, Front End applications, down stream integrations, and data quality from a business perspective. You will be expected to take a leadership roll in managing projects which include the development & implementation of new business processes, technology, architecture, and data controls. This will require interaction with many different levels (Analyst to Managing Director) and groups throughout the firm, including multiple Business Units (Equity, Fixed Income, Prime Brokerage, etc) and IT areas. You will be responsible for understanding and documenting business requirements, proposing solutions to meet the business needs, managing the implementation of the solution, weighing priorities, managing client expectations, and resolving any issues that might arise. You will also be responsible for supporting business users who have questions about data concepts and the applications that EDG owns. This will require investigation into the data and understanding of the functionality and rules enforced by EDG applications. Responsibilities: - Work with multiple Business Departments and IT teams to capture requirements and help implement solutions. - Liaise with business unit sponsors, stakeholders and IT partners on a regular basis to ensure communication of status and issues. - Educate and train the users and developers on the core ref data concepts to ensure different groups are working with the databases correctly and efficiently. - Ensure new business requirements are thoroughly vetted and signed off by business unit users and then understand how these requirements fit into the global requirements or can be leveraged by other business units. - Develop Project Plans in conjunction with IT. - Ensure proper communication of business requirements across stakeholders to ensure solutions are consistent with business unit standards. - Identify and mitigate project risks. - Look for opportunities to promote the use of enterprise referential data. - Maintain extensive knowledge of all the business unit's applications and the applications use of enterprise reference data. - Ensure future applications reuse existing functionality. - Resolve Production Support issues. - Train and educate others outside the group and resolve problems as they arise. - Create and document test scripts and use cases for new releases - Execute test scripts and communicate errors and defects to IT - Co-ordinate User Acceptance Testing - Notify end users of scheduled changes as well as production issues - Document and memorialize product and business knowledge to make it accessible to team members and end users. Skills Required - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to communicate with global users - Strong customer/client relationship skills - Ability to quickly digest new information and learn new businesses and processes - Ability to investigate a problem, determine root cause, and work with end users to solve their issues. - Experience in Project Management - Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks according to criticality - Ability to work independently - Ability to perform cost/benefit analysis and communicate value proposition - Solid judgment to know when to escalate issues - Ability to effectively manage individuals in other divisions - Ability to question 'accepted wisdom' and challenge the experts - Ability to think strategically and provide insight into how to improve existing business and technology processes - Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of work across a variety of areas - Ability to deal with ambiguity and decipher business unit lingo - Ability to analyze requirements and determine testing mechanisms Skills Desired - General familiarity and interest of financial markets - Working knowledge of distributed databases - Working knowledge of SQL and/or MS Access Key Words: To Apply to this job go to http://www.GadBall.com or click here
