A well known financial services company based out of New York City is looking for a Database Developer.

Data Analyst and Database Developer-

This role is working on the NextGen application which provides both client and security reference data to a new global electronic securities trading platform for the Bank of America Merrill Lynch global Electronic Trading front office systems. ETD NextGen development team works very closely with our business and technology partners. Due to working closely with the front office, the nature and breadth of work performs within the ETD group demands that some support duties be undertaken. All existing team members are active participants in this support function

We are looking for a highly-motivated, self-managing individual with strong track record in data analysis and database development in a fast paced trading environment. This role is a data analyst / database developer with specific expertise in Client Reference data related to trade execution environment as part of the NextGen initiative.

The mission of the ETD (Electronic Trading Data) team is to design, build and support a global data platform for groups pursuing data and technology driven businesses. We enable automated execution of trades of multiple asset classes on electronic markets by providing reliable, timely and value-added data. We deliver data and infrastructure for trade execution reporting, strategy back-testing, trade horizon generation and trade wave construction as well as data and infrastructure for automated intraday market making and algorithmic trading. This project will involve building a new Order Mgt System. We'll need someone who understands, from the data point of view, someone who understands inputs from a order management perspective. Fix Protocol and parcing FIX codes is a key skill set. This new application will be built by analyzing existing data structures, information within them, why is the information there, and then determining a common theme to reconstruct a new application.
Experience: Key Objectives of Role:
. Work very closely with both technical and business people to understand the complex business logic and data relationships in our current systems.
. Analyze existing client reference databases, understand the underlying logic and develop tools to translate multiple sources into a single common client reference data object.
. Map a migration path from current multiple client reference data sources into a common store house.
. Help develop the data validation rules to interpret and parse existing data sources and detect and report exceptions.
. Help develop data validations for extracting from upstream sources and flag exceptions.
. Help develop data validations for GUIs to minimize error at entry.


Required Skills:
- All candidates must have experience with Order Management applications
- All candidates must have 5+ years in the financial industry
- Thorough understanding of Data Feeds, Data Validations and Data Mappings
- Proven hands on experience with Oracle PL/SQL, stored procedures
- Hands on experience working in a Unix/Linux environment, no Windows only candidates
- PERL and Shell scripting required
- FIX Protocol /FIX parsing highly desired
