Job Summary:
The Director II – Market Technologies is responsible for the strategic and tactical planning, development, delivery and maintenance of Market Regulation applications for a New York-based client; managing multiple programs, projects and multi-disciplined project teams with an annual budget of $12 Million. This position is also responsible for ensuring the existing application portfolio is well-managed and maintained to meet internal service levels. The position interacts with FINRA Technology and Product Management teams as well as external parties, to (1) develop processes; (2) implement standards; (3) manage costs and risks; and, (4) execution of activities necessary to support FINRA’s business goals.
Essential Job Functions:
· Drives project planning, resourcing, cost estimating and implementation decisions for multiple technology projects simultaneously, ensuring on time on budget implementation of initiatives.
· Manages the selections and assignments of technical resources assigned to his/her project teams, from both internal sources and external solution providers.
· Ensures adherence to internal technical review processes and current technical standards and strategic direction.
· Drives system, data and application architecture decisions.
· Oversees the quality assurance and production turnover process.
· Drives project activity to defined milestones and deliverables and tracks project expenses.
· Collaborates with business leaders to ensure projects’ goals and execution are in alignment with business goals.
· Defines products and plans releases.
· Participates in negotiation of IT acquisition/services contracts and executes contracts.
· Provides responsive advice and service to FINRA business departments on technology issues, service delivery, project support and provision of services.
· Communicates Technology plans, policies, and trends throughout the organization.
· Advises and mentors staff and/or subcontractors to achieve core objectives, accomplish process improvements, improve upon SLA compliance, and manage cost controls.Want to learn more about us?
Experience: Education/Experience Requirements:
· BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent plus a minimum of ten years of work experience in technology systems development, delivery and project management.
· Advanced Technical Degree preferred.
· Expert knowledge of project management practices and techniques.
· Demonstrated expertise facilitating organizational change, motivating teams and mentoring new skills.
· Strong analytical, planning, communication and organizational skills with a commitment to accountability and leadership.
· Knowledge and experience with financial services industry preferred.
Working Conditions:
· Travel required between MD and NYC offices; on average, 3-4 times/month.
