A large financial company located in downtown Manhattan seeks a strong UI Prototyper to join their team for a short term contract.

The Client Experience User Interface Prototyper (the Prototyper) is responsible for producing interactive prototypes of the portal application interfaces developed by the TS Client Experience Team. These prototypes play a crucial role in the improvement of the usability of the product and constituent applications; they demonstrate how the UI meets business requirements, ensure shared understanding of business, usability and technical implications and provide guidance to development teams responsible for developing and testing final code.

The CE User Interface Prototyper collaborates closely with the User Interface Designers to translate page design schematics into working, coded prototypes that demonstrate the interrelationship of pages and behavior of individual page elements. The Prototyper works closely with the UI Lead(s) and the Content Management Lead to ensure that visual design, style and branding standards are upheld. The Developer also serves as a liaison between the CE team and the IT organizations in vetting technical feasibility of the interface design and resolving issues. Their expertise in front-end technology and interaction best practices ensure the interface is implemented in the most efficient manner and meets the highest standards of usability.

The CE Interface Prototyper is responsible for creating and delivering any graphical elements (animations, buttons, images, etc) required for the interface design. They are also responsible for working with the Content Management Lead to maintain the site audit screenshot library and for distributing screenshots, page code and graphical elements as needed by the business and technology teams. The CE Interface Prototyper maintains the CE development environment.

Major Functions
The Client Experience User Interface Prototyper performs the following functions:

Role Specific Responsibilities
Prototype development (70%)

. Review market and competitive intelligence, business drivers, needs and strategies with business and technology partners to understand implications for existing or new interfaces; ensure customer point of view is represented in business, interface and technology decisioning; proactively identify opportunities to improve usability, streamline and optimize the client experience

. Design and build web pages/sites according to Entitlements style guidelines

. Produce working prototypes used to test/validate designs with internal/external stakeholders, gain necessary Business feedback/signoff, gain necessary technical feasibility feedback from IT, and to guide developers in final implementation of the interface.

. In tandem with the UI Leads and designers, conceptualize and develop site layout, navigation, images, icons, interactive animations and other multimedia elements.

. Demonstrate strong grasp of design principles, typography and illustration

. Provide technical solutions online to support development of enhanced online functionality through use of javascript, html, cascading style sheets and Flash.

. Assess usability of interaction designs; collaborate with User Interface designers to fully leverage the potential of various front-end technologies

. Participate in usability, QA and UAT testing efforts

Knowledge Sharing / Management (10%)

. Participate in cross-LoB knowledge sharing

. Support knowledge sharing within the business and IT organizations

. Contribute a business and usability perspective during the database and information flow design reviews

. Proactively share successful User Interface processes and best practices within/among project teams

. Champion customer-centricity, usability and ease-of use and promote consistency of the customer experience within the online and across various customer communication channels. Demonstrate the value of the prototype-driven, iterative interface design approach

. Collaborate with CE Content Management Lead to monitor adherence to style guidelines

. Maintain the CE development environment

. Maintain site inventory screen shot library; distribute site graphics and images to business and IT groups

Business Partnership (10%)

. Establish strong working relationships with Business and Technology team members

. Participate in cross-Wholesale Bank initiatives


Key Position Statistics

. 3+ years experience in graphic design, production and front-end development

. College degree in Interaction or Interface design, or comparable professional experience required.

. Strong visual design sense; familiarity with branding guidelines

. Familiarity with usability testing methodology

. Positive Attitude!

Skills Requirements

. Proficient in J2EE, JSF, - Proficient

. Strong experience with RichFaces and Dojo

. Expert HTML skills, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks

. Strong proficiency with wide range of graphics/web/multimedia applications

. Strong DHTML, AJAX, JAVASCRIPT, XHTML, CSS, SVN (source code control) & XML

. User Interface Design & Development Experience (especially in an enterprise application development environment)

. Some experience with one or more other JS libraries such as: YUI, jQuery, Prototype, Ext-JS, MooTools, etc.Some PHP experience


Knowledge Requirements

. Self-managing; ability to define tasks, effectively manage workstreams/workloads, deliver in a timely manner

. Ability to lead and mentor

. Detail oriented, strong problem solving skills and willingness to continually learn is a big plus

. Strong understanding of database technologies, technical architecture and content management systems

. Ability to translate customer and business requirements into final page designs

. Ability to develop and translate design guidelines and standards.

. In-depth knowledge of user/customer-centered design and development approaches

. Knowledge of Web 2.0 Standards, ActiveSite Compiler, Jquery, and DoJo

. Knowledge of Internet, Internet Technologies, web development, production and UI issues
