POSITION PURPOSE: The Director, Enterprise Portal/Knowledge Management provides overall leadership and strategic direction for all internal web efforts (supporting staff, volunteers and vendors). This position directs all activities associated with the design, development and successful implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Enterprise Portal, which will be the primary vehicle for internal knowledge management for the organization and provides leadership in the area of knowledge management as a technique for the management of the intellectual assets. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Define the roadmap for Knowledge Management (KM) including integration with a variety of other business systems. Responsible for ensuring that all enterprise portal solutions support the achievement of both business and user goals for the foundation. Architect the enterprise portal infrastructure (intranet & extranet). Lead development of the enterprise level functional and content-based information architecture solutions that fulfill complex requirements by helping department managers/directors refine their business objectives; analyzing target audience characteristics, goals and tasks; exploring, clarifying and working within technical parameters; defining user task flows; and modeling and testing the user experience. Responsible for the ongoing development of the enterprise portal as a knowledge resource center. Work with internal departments to provide effective internal corporate communications messages for employees throughout the organization. Direct all activities of the enterprise portal team and associated consultants/vendors (CMS, DMS, Portlet Design & Development, etc.). Conduct usability studies and work with UI designers/consultants to improve overall user experience. Develop and direct all training efforts. Monitor, evaluate and report on the user trends. Portal Governance including establishing and overseeing Portal governance standards (policies, procedures, content infrastructure, etc).Chair and oversee work of Intranet Community Council and other multi-departmental committees Monitor all Intranet/extranet pages for compliance with policy and inappropriate use. Review all structural changes to ensure consistency with architecture design.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor?s degree required, or equivalent experience. 5 years related IT experience. Previous supervisory experience required. Superior project management skills required; ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines, handle a very busy schedule and work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality in all work products. Thorough understanding of enterprise portal and overall web technologies required. Knowledge and training in the field of Knowledge Management, Information Technology and Content Management. Knowledge of information architectures, taxonomies, metadata frameworks and interaction designs of of portal applications. Excellent communications skills both verbal, written and graphical) to write policies and copywriting. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build effective working relationships with staff, volunteer and vendors/consultants. Experience with web technology/applications suchs as JavaScrpt, Dreameaver, Homesite, IntraSmart, MRC, RoboInfo, Photoshop, NT Servicer Administration, SQL hardware/application, other applications and software systems as well as programming languages.
