Senior SQL Server Developer in New York, NY

Please email with Job# 3055N as reference This position is within the securitization group of a major financial firm located in lower Manhattan. This group develops and maintains a financial software package which is marketed and sold to major banks and investment firms around the globe. The software is data-driven, web-based, and consists of 300 tables, 1000 stored procedures, and 500 user defined functions. We are seeking a senior level SQL Server Developer to join our development team. The ideal candidate should be a motivated, out-of-the-box thinker who is capable of taking business requirements and designing and implementing solutions on their own. They should have extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of SQL Server including: SQL Server architecture, complex query coding, best practices, performance tuning, and database maintenance procedures. We are a small, close-knit team of experienced developers. Creativity and proactive thinking is encouraged. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in staying up to date with current technologies and learning complex financial concepts. Responsibilities ? Analyze business problems and requirements. Work with other database developers and web developers to design and implement appropriate solutions. ? Work with clients to troubleshoot and resolve bugs and other issues. ? Be aware of performance impact of new and existing code. Recommend alternatives for improving performance. ? Analyze existing and new tables to determine and create indexes. ? Perform regular database maintenance and monitoring of development environment. ? Create data load and conversion scripts for clients' data. Required ? Minimum 5-7 years experience developing SQL Server applications. ? Extensive experience working with complex data structures. ? Extensive experience in writing complex SQL statements utilizing stored procedures and user defined functions. ? Knowledge of Microsoft SQL best practices. ? Ability to optimize SQL statements and analyze execution plans. Knowledge of SQL Profiler, performance monitor. ? Knowledge of or experience with Microsoft Reporting Services or other reporting tool. ? Detail oriented with strong personal integrity. ? Desire to learn business concepts. ? Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred ? Financial background in either fixed income or securitization. ? Familiarity with SQL Server 2005 and .NET technology. ? Experience with or knowledge of web development technologies including ASP, ASP.NET, C#. ? BS or MS in computer science or related field. This is a full-time position with high growth potential.
