UNIX Systems Administrator
The qualified candidate must have a strong foundation in Systems Administration as well as experience in operating in a client-facing role. Direct support experience is a plus. Ability to prioritize and operate on multiple issues at once will differentiate the ideal candidate.
Required:
? Three to five years systems administration experience
? Strong verbal and written communication skills
? Independent problem solving & self-direction
? Comfortable with most aspects of UNIX systems administration; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software
? Solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts ("inode", "superblock"), RAID (0,1,1+0,3,5,10)
? Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; can configure NFS and NIS, can use host, nslookup or dig, understands basic routing concepts
? Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Perl, korn, bash, zsh, etc)
? Solaris 2.6, 7, 8 on Sparc platform
? Knowledge of Sun Hardware (Ultra 5 through E6900 ? E10K+ experience a plus)
? Linux install & config experience
? Linux kernel tuning & driver compilation/installation
? Degree in computer science or a related field
Desirable:
? Knowledge of Veritas products ? Cluster, File System, Volume Manager
? Package management (OpenPKG / RPM, Sun Packages)
? Significant programming background in any applicable language
