Windows Project Manager
A Windows Project Manager is responsible for the direct, hands-on
leadership and quality execution of all activities during an engagement.
This person is responsible for the deliverables and the teams that produce
them, ensuring that client and goals on the engagement are met.
He or she leads the development of the project approach and plan, and is
responsible for delivering the project on time, within budget, and to high
quality standards.
The Windows Project Manager is focused on the day-to-day activities of the
team, coordinating the team's efforts towards successful delivery in
engagements.
The Senior Technical Project Manager must have a strong leadership presence
with client counterparts and project teams.
The Senior Technical Project Manager is accountable for all the
interdependent elements of the multi-disciplinary engagement, for meeting
contractual milestones and client expectations, and for producing high
quality results on time and within budget.
He or she builds relationships with counterparts on the client execution
team, provides leadership to team members, is proactive in managing risks,
removes tactical barriers to success, is a focal point for communication on
project status, works to create re-useable assets (e.g., expertise, tools,
frameworks and software), and maintains a positive working environment for
teams.
Responsibilities:
- Chief client contact for all project-level communications
- Integrates user, business and technology track recommendations into a
coherent vision which addresses immediate client needs, situational
constraints, and potential for ongoing work
- Prepares and delivers an integrated budget, schedule, and development plan
for the entire (cross-track) development effort; responsible for definition,
articulation, and coordination of all cross-track deliverables
- Identifies cross-track resource needs and work with Track Leads to staff
project appropriately
- Solicits input from Track Leads and client contacts in defining
project procedures and metrics: status reporting procedures; change control
procedures; issue escalation procedures; risk management plan; project
success criteria
- Authors and obtains client sign-off on all contractual documents (LOI,
SOW, Change Orders, etc.) - Determines appropriate structure for project
extranet and populates with core project-level documents
- Effectively manages client expectations and engages in forward-looking
project planning
- Coordinates all cross-track development and ensures continuity of
project vision and development plan across all tracks; encourages creative
cross-track collaboration
Required Experience:
Windows Skills
- *4-5 years of experience in an administrative position overseeing servers,
preferable to have experience with more. Multi-site topology is a must, for
the person will be working with companies that span the country, if not the
globe.
- Active Directory and Exchange competence are a must.
- AD knowledge must include account manipulation, group management, and
domain management techniques (replication troubleshooting, delegation, etc.)
Must have installed and configured an AD domain (preferably win2k3, but
win2k will suffice.)
- Exchange knowledge must include basic email architecture understanding,
have installed and configured an Exchange site, and understand the purposes
of OWA, front/backend servers, and how to administer an Exchange server.
Client Management
- Minimum 6-8 years client management experience, including demonstrated
ability in building relationships with new clients, and cultivating and
growing
relationships over time
- Demonstrated success in coordinating cross-track efforts of one or more
client service projects of at least ten to twelve months' duration
Team Management
- Minimum 6-8 years team management experience, including leadership of a
large
(10+ person) cross competency (e.g., technology, design, IA,) team across a
suitable
range of project types (tech-heavy, design-intensive, etc.) and industry
verticals
- Evidence of successful team leadership across multiple project lifecycles
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor associate and mid-level Project
