Pre-Sales Engineer, Government & Education Accounts
The Pre-Sales Engineer performs the following function: technical pre-sales support for the firm's Data Center Management, Storage and Information security offerings. This position will be the primary Sales Engineering contact for some of our client's State & Local Government & Education customers in the Long Island, NY & Connecticut territory, based out of the Metro New York region.
The Pre-Sales Engineer will work with the sales team in a pre-sales role to develop and position solutions involving products. Presentations and conference call discussions are a critical part of this position. During the qualifying process, confirm that products meet the prospect's requirements and assist sales in technical qualification. Throughout the proposal process, articulate and demonstrate solutions, influence customer's technical requirements, and position products relative to competition.
The Account System Engineer will work as a senior member of the sales team as the primary technical advisor to develop and position a broad range of solutions involving Our client?s products. Presentations, project management, solution design and customer interaction are a critical part of this position.
Coordinate, deploy and hold accountable Internal and partner resources to maximize customer success.
Establish, develop and maintain relationships with key senior technical influencers of the accounts.
Utilize Internal sales processes to develop comprehensive technical account plans in partnership with the sales team.
Advocate customers? initiatives, priorities and interests throughout the entire company,
Articulate and demonstrate Our client?s solutions, influence customer?s technical requirements, and position solutions relative to competition.
Recognize and develop new business opportunities in the account, helping to generate and maintain a revenue pipeline.
Demonstrate technical leadership in key areas as recognized by our customers and business partners,
Manage the RFP process.
Mentors other SE?s within their region and throughout the SE organization. Educate and provide training to the sales community.
Author customer success stories and case studies with Our client?s solution architectures.
Technical Requirements
The Pre-Sales Engineer must have an in-depth knowledge of Major Account Management, Complex, long-term product and services sales involving multiple decisionmakers and stakeholders.
Technical knowledge should include strong skills in some, and some exposure to most of the following areas:
Perimeter Security technologies: Firewalls, IDS, IPS
Security Information Management Systems: SIMS
Anti-virus, Anti-Spyware, Content Filtering.
Data Center Storage, Backup, Recovery, Application Management
The Pre-Sales Engineer must obtain a working knowledge of all products.
Be responsible for all of the technical aspects of proposals
A working knowledge of the security industry
A working knowledge of competitive products for each of products,
Requirements
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical areas, or equivalent experience.
3-5 years in Pre-sales, Systems Engineer or Sales Engineer role at an IT Vendor, Integrator or VAR/SI.
Strong IT Infrastructure knowledge, including Security, Storage, Data Center Management, Managed Services.
