My client is a Global Hedge Fund and they are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, bright, well rounded and outgoing Helpdesk Engineer to join their team in Manhattan.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting desktop problems.
- Supporting Microsoft Outlook, other Microsoft Office applications, and trading applications.
- Installing Windows XP workstations and laptops for users.
- Creating new users.
- Configuring Cisco switches, DHCP and DNS.
- Deploying applications.
- Configuring Blackberries.
- Configuring Avaya PBX, voicemail, and phones.
- Installing HP servers.
- Coordinating new office builds.
Be available 24 hours on a rotation basis for local and international support.
Required skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Troubleshooting experience.
- Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003 applications.
- Windows Remote Installation Service.
- Microsoft Exchange 2003.
- Veritas NetBackup.
- Avaya PBX, VOIP, and voicemail.
- Knowledge of basic protocols, including HTML, DHCP, LDAP, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP.
- Basic knowledge of routing and networking technologies.
- Deploying applications and basic desktop engineering.
- Knowledge of Office applications, Bloomberg, Reuters, and other common trading applications.
- Some knowledge of Unix environment
Desired/nice-to-have skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Perl programming
