Systems Administrator in New York, NY

Contract to Full Time Experience: IT Windows System Administrator Provide networking, security and tele-communications expertise for application and infrastructure to enable IT and the business units to function. Provide infrastructure advice/support for applications and database systems, integration and system configuration, sizing decisions including server, network and client considerations. Performing technical administration and/or analysis duties and producing specific deliverables relating to network and hardware/software operations management. Perform system security audits and conduct vulnerability scans. Monitor and analyze vendor/industry security alerts. Monitor & maintain IT security systems/tools. Assist in IT security product research. Ensuring that all technical solutions meet both the projects' functional requirements as well as comply with architectural principles, concepts, patterns, and standards, including security standards. Advise in tool evaluations, prototype solutions, testing approaches, conduct benchmarks and educating of technical staff. Preferred Requirements / Skills. Familarity with all aspects of Windows platform (Windows 2003) and key server technologies such as Exchange, IIS, Active Directory, group policy, SQL Server, virtualization and DoubleTake Replication software. Design, develop and implement script-based automation of administrative tasks (WSH, VBS, PowerShell). Familiarity with network technologies such as protocols, services, products, security, switch architecture, provisioning. Familiarity with facilities management would be an advantage. Knowledge in Fortigate Firewall and Proofpoint Security appliances a plus.
