Job Description:
Leads project teams towards the realization of project goals. Assigned projects typically involve the implementation of IT infrastructures and computing environments. This is a seasoned professional, who possesses a comprehensive knowledge of management and project support concepts, practices, and procedures as well as computing and telecommunications technologies. Incumbents provide tactical management for infrastructure implementation projects, i.e., plan, organize, direct and control day-to-day activities of ACS and vendor engineering teams to ensure quality and on time/on budget deliveries. Work involves considerable coordination and interface with client and ACS operations staff.

REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and maintains project schedules to plan the work associated with the project. Provides for managing project resources during the project term.

Provides day to day direction of the project team to ensure success.

Maintenance of contract budget (actual/projected) records. Tracking ACS costs and performance.

Develops detailed cost models in response to customer requests.

Provides status reporting on project activities, including the compilation and reporting of project metrics.

Plans for project execution including risk planning, communications planning, quality management, issue management and cost control.

Purchasing equipment and supplies: conducting cost/benefit analyses, obtaining quotes, negotiates with vendors and initiating purchase orders for both task and overhead items.

Conducting/compiling/making special analyses, reports and presentations of budgets, performance, forecasts, etc., as required.

Introduction/implementation of administrative or financial control procedures, which improve the effective operation of the unit.

Participates in the introduction and implementation of overall ACS operating standards, practices, and procedures. Provides guidance to project support staff assigned to client locations. Establishes internal controls and monitors activities of staff to ensure operating quality. Coordinates project support for start-up and shutdown.

Plans goals and objectives for support staff and organizes personnel accordingly, including the scheduling/assignment of staff. Provides guidance to staff to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of same.

Acts as point of contact for other departments to resolve problems regarding project support and acts as in-house consultant. May contribute to specific proposal efforts and management level presentations.

May coordinate with project management to interviews, selects and supervises training of new employees. Administers and/or coordinates administration of performance evaluations and salary recommendations. Addresses employee relations and development issues for assigned personnel.

Keeps apprised of developments in field of expertise to ensure currency and makes recommendations to management to improve efficiency/effectiveness.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

6+ years progressively responsible experience providing related client/project/contract administrative support.

2+ years experience in successful task lead or supervisory role. Strong organizational skills.

Knowledge of project management best practices as described in the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

Knowledge of Microsoft Project and the generation of project plans using this tool

Knowledge of MS Office

Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Generation of cost models based on client requirements.
