Basic Function:
As part of M&T's Central Technology division the Staff Specialist will be responsible to assist and/or lead medium and large projects for the Branch Web Applications team.  This individual will be required to perform systems analysis, production support, as well as project management.  
Responsibilities:
The Staff Specialist must understand the distributed computing environment: servers, databases, networking, and security. 
The candidate should also have a good general understanding of bank data and their source systems: customer fields, balance fields, employee fields, etc. 
The candidate will also be required to evaluate business requirements and provide guidance to the development team.
Evaluates and understands complex interrelationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications and platforms. Provides highly analytical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist business units in meeting strategic objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of two to four years college with at least eight years involvement in systems analysis and application development
Must have distributed computing experience
Requires a complete understanding of the system development life cycle, ability to introduce application development alternatives and an understanding of the client area's functions
Requires experience with state of the art application development support software and hardware platforms and proficiency in multiple programming languages.
Proficient in multiple programming languages and thorough knowledge of application development support software and hardware platforms along with a diverse technical background in mainframe and distributed computing environments.
Demonstrates a high aptitude for complex problem analysis and resolution.
Solid understanding of vendor hardware configurations and software concepts both in the current environment and future technologies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the target audience.
Ideal Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred
Detailed knowledge of the Bank's application framework.
Aware of the Bank's business plan and strategic objectives.
