SQL Server Developer in Rochester, NY

Our client has an immediate need for a SQL Server Developer to provide support and ensure consistent and reliable data throughout the company’s relational database systems. As a SQL Server Developer, you will manage MS SQL Server installation, security, performance monitoring and maintenance; institute, monitor and test database administration procedures including backup and recovery; work with departmental development groups to implement new databases ensuring naming standards and consistent database design. Additional responsibilities include:

• Coordinating MS SQL Server installation, security, performance monitoring and maintenance.
• Instituting, monitoring and testing database administration procedures including backup and recovery
• Responding to and resolving database access and performance issues.
• Maintaining the integrity and security of all MS SQL Server databases.
• Managing backup and disaster recovery and data archiving procedures
• Maintaining documentation on Enterprise data models, data dictionaries, physical database configuration, and daily database maintenance functions.
• Making recommendations for purchase or upgrades of the software and hardware to support SQL systems.
• Development, configuration and implementation of an integrated management information software system.
• Designing logical and physical databases to meet needs of individual departments and agency initiatives.
• Acting as the lead forms designer for databases.
• Ensuring proper security processes are in place for authorized access to applications and databases to meet HIPAA requirements as prescribed by CFC Compliance.
• Analyzing production and test database problems, determining causes and takes timely, corrective actions.
• Reviewing and testing requested changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database. Conferring with co-workers to determine impact of database changes on other systems.
• Writing SQL stored procedures, triggers, views, and database scripts to implement business logic and for database maintenance.
• Overseeing the implementation of database and application upgrades.
• Performing daily monitoring of database systems and applications.
• Developing, maintaining, optimizing and supporting new and existing Crystal Reports for SQL databases
• Writing and testing complex reports against database using Crystal Reports 8.5+
• Developing stored procedures, triggers and views utilized by Crystal reports.
• Participating in requirements gathering for report specifications
• Determining time estimates for each report
• Providing technical support for other agency databases.
• Supporting users with ad-hoc report writing
• Maintaining legacy systems
• Acting as member of IT Support Team
• Responding to the needs and questions of users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.
• Providing trouble-shooting support for agency computers.
• Setting up LAN users, Email, anti-virus software on workstations.
• Assisting in installation of agency approved software.
• Actively supporting the agency’s cultural competence goals, efforts and activities
• Performing other duties as requested by Department Director.

Experience: To be considered for this role, the incumbent must possess the following:
&#149; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent of education and experience.
&#149; Crystal Report focused training and experience
&#149; MCDBA is preferred
&#149; 2+ years experience with database management, support and administration
