An international asset management organization founded in 1983 with over $10 billion of client and proprietary assets under management, recognized as a leading hedge fund and portfolio manager in fixed income, futures, currency, commodities and global equities.
Has approximately 300 employees in three main locations. Front-office, Risk Management, and IT personnel are in midtown Manhattan. Back office and IT personnel are in the Princeton, New Jersey area. Additionally, there is a small trading satellite in London.
Technical Environment
Servers run primarily on Fujitsu/Unix and Windows/NT platforms. Oracle is the primary relational database used but do utilize MS SQL Server as well. Clients are Windows/NT or Sun/Unix. The network technologies employed are current (no Novell). MS Exchange/Outlook, the full range of MS Office products, typical market data feeds, and several statistical/mathematical packages are widely used.
Business applications development is done in Java, PL/SQL, .NET, C/C++. Legacy applications exist in Visual Basic. The Enterprise Report Writing tool is Business Objects. In addition to supporting trade processing, operations, accounting and clearance, firm-wide initiatives are underway to replace third-party transaction processing system and institute an STP environment. The firm is also looking to re-architect portions of its current data warehouse and implement various datamarts. Some developers are in the centralized IT group and others are located in smaller, specialist teams to support new quantitative analysis, trading and risk management groups.
.Net Application Developer
Front office developer with experience in developing windows and web applications using VB and/or C# using .Net in Financial Services industry. Should be a detail-oriented, self-driven individual with the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a large degree of responsibility. Experience working with Hedge Funds, Wall St Banks, investment management firms, financial technology firms or service providers is a plus.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, commodities, foreign exchange and derivatives
4 years of software development experience with at least 2 years of C# with .NET Web application development experience.
Database development experience using Oracle / SQL Server
Very good analytical skills
BS in Computer Science or related discipline.
Excellent Communications Skills: verbal, written, interpersonal.
A passion for software development and solving business problems.
Experience working productively with a team.
Desired Skills:
Experience problem solving in the investment management domain
Knowledge/experience in interface design, web application architecture and database design.
Experience developing in the Microsoft Excel object model with VBA.
Prior experience of application development in a fixed income environment.
