BASIC FUNCTION:As part of M&T’s Central Technology Division, the Senior Staff Specialist would perform and oversees the most complex systems analysis, design and programming efforts. Plays a key role as a leader and individual contributor on complex projects. Provides the highest level analytical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist the client areas and Bank in meeting their short-term business goals and long term strategic objectives.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Senior Staff Specialist will responsible to direct and monitor junior resources, plus coordinate development tasks for any scope effort. Prepares and manages the technical component of project plans.Confers with system analysts, operations staff and IT staff in overall systems development direction from technical analysis to user acceptance testing. Prepares and reviews test data and executes detailed test plans. Performs any required debugging.Evaluates and understands highly complex interrelationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications and platforms.Prepares thorough, clear technical and functional specifications and updates systems documentation. Reviews documentation prepared by junior technicians.Prepares and reviews technical assessments to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for any scope project.Maintains efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications. Recommends new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Typically will lead technical evaluations of vendor software.Monitors employee performance and may prepare annual appraisals.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree of above in a technical field of study or 7+ years experience in a related technical environment3+ years experience with Cobol3+ years experience with AssemblerProficient with Oracle, DB2, SQL or InformixProficient with Java, J2EE, or MS .Net Suite3+ years experience with IBM Z/OS (application development or support)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsPC literate and able to effectively use standard MS Office componentsIDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:Proficient with CICS, Easytrieve, and JCLExperience with VB, ASP, ASP.NET, HTML/DHTML, and SQL Stored Procedure is a plus.Experience with IBM z/Linux, Unix, Windows Server, and Linux a plus.A solid understanding of communications methods: TCP/IP, VTAM.Demonstrated proficiency in Systems Analysis and Design activitiesPractical experience with the following: VSAM, TSO, Panvalet, Harvest, Windows XP/2000 Desktop and Server OS.Understand concepts, principles and issues relating to mainframe, client/server and web based technologies and environments and how they relate to one another.Banking industry knowledge/experience.Project management experience.Relational DB Design concepts (large tables and structured tablesObject oriented Design knowledge/concepts.10-15 years of application experience is preferred in the CPCS system environment and it’s integrated ancillary sub systems provided by Carreker/ Check Solutions (i.e.: ORSS, ACLS, Toolkit, SPG, etc) as well as Reject Repair processing. Also, a thorough knowledge of all related Item Processing applications is strongly desired, as this position will also lead the Bank into the next generation of Image Technology and the replacement of CPS.
