Requirements: 5+ years technical writing experience (must provide samples), BS / BA degree.

The role of the Technical Documentation Specialist within the Application Systems department is to support the rapidly growing requirements for technical documentation, utilized within CIS as well as across the entire organization. Technical documentation is required for new development initiatives as well as current production applications. The documentation produced by this resource will be utilized for defining, clarifying or describing application systems, processes, data flows, integration points, web services, application libraries, as well as a host of other CIS centric components used to support all business functions.

This position will all be responsible for defining the documentation repository structure, distribution mechanisms and documentation template standards. It is foreseen that this resource will work as an imbedded resource within projects of a larger scope, as well as across all Application Systems support groups. This resource will be required to closely collaborate with all levels of technical resources (programmers through architects) and ensure accuracy and completeness of technical details throughout the produced documentation.

Key deliverables for this position will include development and on-going maintenance of the CIS documentation portal, documentation version control standards, application/web service/program/component level documentation standard creation and content development, project SDLC documentation standard development and content creation, and continuous improvement recommendations.

Create, edit, and maintain technical and procedural documentation for current and future applications including standard operating procedures, user and application guides.
Produce and maintain on-line (internet/web-based) documentation as well as CIS Portal/version control for documentation repository.
Maintain documentation standards and keep abreast of current information by associating with professional individuals or societies or by reviewing professional publications, newsletters, e-mail, and Web sites.
Develop documentation project plans and timelines.
Develop new and maintain existing knowledge base content based on client-specific plans and policies, and standard services content.
Accept work requests from internal teams, and work in a coordinated, effective, and productive manner with other groups and cross functional teams.
Use knowledge base standards to ensure all forms of content and achieve an appropriate level of usability and quality.
Keep management informed of knowledge base status and requirements for proper maintenance.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
