Basic Function:Provides designs, specifies information systems solutions and highly technical direction in the development of new or existing programs to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements. Acts as a principal application designer for major modifications effectively using analytical skills, technical skills, available technology and tools in the evaluation of client requirements and processes. Provides solutions that are technologically sound. May perform day-to-day support activities and special projects. Often directs and monitors the activities of junior staff.Responsibilities:Performs basic to complex systems analysis, design, and development of distributed systems technology utilizing M&T’s project management methodologies and industry best practices.Uses skills and available resources to develop clear, complete technical and functional specifications and related documentation for the products and services supported.Provide technical consultation services and analyze projects project requirements to develop supportable solutions to fulfill business needs.Works with technical, operational, and functional areas to answer questions, resolve problems, and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.Provides on-call support after hours, as needed, to support the systems under their area of responsibility.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two (2) years technical experience or five years technical experience with distributed systems.Knowledge of distributed computing technologies and related software.Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.Knowledge of the systems development lifecycle and related project management methodologies.Experience as a Network Administrator.At least two (2) years in telecommunications.Ideal Qualifications:Microsoft and Novell operating system experience,Novell ZENworks and Novell Client software knowledge.Proxy services, information security, and telecommunications-related background.Directory Services background, including Active Directory and eDirectory software.Technical certification-MCSE, MCP, CAN, CNE, Master CNE-ITIL experience.
