BASIC FUNCTION:As part of M&T’s Technology Division the Sr. Analyst would perform and oversee complex systems analysis, design and programming efforts. Plays a key role as a leader and contributor on complex projects. Provides analytical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist the client areas and bank in meeting their short-term business goals and long term strategic objectives.RESPONSIBILITIES:Must be able to coordinate development tasks for any scope effort. Prepare and manage the technical component of project plans.Confers with business analysts, operations staff and IT staff in overall systems development direction from technical analysis to user acceptance testing. Prepares and reviews test data and executes detailed test plans. Performs any required debugging.Evaluates and understands highly complex interrelationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications and platforms. Prepares thorough, clear technical and functional specifications and updates systems documentation. Reviews documentation prepared by junior technicians.Prepares and reviews technical assessments to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for any scope project.Maintains efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications. Recommends new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Typically will lead technical evaluations of vendor software.BASIC SKILLS:Bachelors degree or above in CIS or another technical field of study or 5+ years experience in a related technical environmentProgramming experience with one of the following: COBOL, Assembler, CICS, Easytrieve, and JCL. Demonstrated proficiency in application development and/or support in an IBM z/OS operating environment. A solid understanding of communications methods: TCP/IP, VTAMDemonstrated proficiency in Systems Analysis and Design activitiesPC literate and able to effectively use standard MS Office componentsExcellent Written and Verbal Communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work well with people and individually in a fast paced, results oriented environmentIDEAL SKILLS:Experience with Java, J2EE, Visual Basic ASP and ASP.NET, HTML/DHTML, and Stored Procedures is a plus.Experience with IBM z/Linux, Unix, Windows Server, and Linux a plus.Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and other contemporary structures a plus.Practical experience with the following: VSAM, TSO, Panvalet, Harvest, Windows XP/2000 Desktop and Server OSUnderstand concepts, principles and issues relating to mainframe, client server and web based technologies and environments and how they relate to one anotherBanking Industry knowledge/experienceUnderstanding of Project Management concepts and project life cycleAn understanding of Cash Vault operations is desirable but not requiredBackground in Corporate Disbursement processing is a valuable plusObject Oriented Design knowledge/concepts3-5 years of application experience is preferred in a Mainframe system environment and it’s integrated ancillary sub systems. Also, a general knowledge of all related Item Processing applications is strongly desired.The candidate will work with technical, operations and the business clients to integrate Image Technology into all areas of operational efficiency and product delivery to internal and external clients.
