A well known financial services company based out of New York City is looking for a Software Developer.
Description:
The candidate will be part of a team working on a implementation project. In general, work will be performed at the client site in lower Manhattan.
Scope of position:
Work within project structure mostly at customer site and communicating with the core development team in London. The role is to be part of a delivery team working on TopOffice application framework, a J2EE architecture to form the next generation Trade and Risk Management product.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the complete project lifecycle (Planning, functional specification, design, implementation, unit test, user test, maintenance), address customer and product management requests, and provide effective solutions. Interact with customer, project manager to identify the requirements and propose and implement solutions for clients.
The candidate is expected to work in a structured and transparent manner, report progress and risk and issues to the project manager and other team member
Experience: Skills:
3+ year SQL development experience
3+ years PERL development experience
Experience in working in UNIX environments
Strong understanding of financial instruments
BSc or MSc graduate level: Computer Science or related subject
Ability to work creatively as part of a team, taking initiative where necessary
Excellent communication skills, team player and effective communication within team
Strong desire for solving complex problems in a rigorous and detailed manner
Experience of working on complex multi-tier software systems
Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about latest advances in the technology industry
Desired Skill Set:
. Java development experience
. Interest in finance and market practices is beneficial
