The ideal candidate will have a diverse background in reporting technologies and the architecture, design, development and optimization of complex reporting implementations, This professional will have a firm grasp of Data Warehouse architecture and the structure of multidimensional objects and will have had extensive experience working with application architects and database engineers to optimize application data access methods.
This role will work closely with the Oracle Data modeler to aid in the design process of the proposed Reporting solutions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead BI engineering efforts in the creation of high quality reporting infrastructures and applications to meet the growing needs of a global user community.
Lead the complete Cognos Development Lifecycle.
Must have the ability to understand requirements, scope projects, and create Framework Manager Models for Report studio and Business Models for Query studio.
Authoring complex reports for various lines of business within the organization.
Assist and mentor customers with Report studio or Query studio reports.
Create OLAP solutions using Cognos Transformer.
Maintain existing Framework models and OLAP cubes.
Perform hands-on development of queries, reports, cubes and dashboards.
Coordinates and performs unit test of the reports.
Review and prepare system documents and specifications.
Prepare reports, studies, and documentation, delivers presentations, and participates in meetings.
Manage multiple BI application development efforts simultaneously.
Provide effective interfacing with end users, BA's and business stakeholders.
Perform backup Cognos admin duties when the primary admin is out of office to ensure the Cognos uptime is meeting expectation.
Tools/Technologies/Skills:
7+ years of Cognos Development-Current experience with Series 7 and 8.
Experience in building complex reports using Cognos 8.4 BI (Report Studio is a must have).
Experience in building complex OLAP cubes using Cognos Transformer.
Experience in developing Reports and dashboards using Cognos Go Dashboard.
Expert level skills using data to create and develop BI applications.
Superb knowledge and experience using BI and analytics to support business requirements.
Experience in writing complex SQL queries.
5-6 years of experience with Oracle database development- current experience with Oracle 10g report development.
Working knowledge of data warehousing techniques, Cognos job scheduling and Server maintenance.
Exceptional communication, presentation, problem solving and team building skills. Comfortable in interfacing with and experience supporting business stakeholders.
Excellent knowledge of SDLC.
Financial Services industry experience required- Equity Trading experience preferred.
Qualification:
College degree in CS/Engineering/Math or equivalent experience.
