As we grow quickly, the dependence upon accurate and timely data is vital. As PostgreSQL and DB2 DBA, you will play a key role in standardizing our data architecture, developing new technology initiatives, and enhancing the existing data architecture in a high-growth environment. As a member of a dynamic and highly-motivated development team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining robust, reliable, integrated, and efficient databases, scripts, and queries in development and production environments. Depending upon the scope of each project, you will work directly with business owners or through project managers, but always communicate closely with the rest of the development team.

Reports to: Vice President of Technology

Duties/Responsibilities

Designing, documenting, developing and maintaining PostgreSQL, DB2, SQL Server, and any new databases in support of custom and third-party applications
Designing, documenting, developing, and maintaining data management and reporting scripts
Coordinating closely with development staff in a test-driven environment
Working directly with users in support of reports and metrics across the organization
Recommending and supporting policies and procedures for maintenance of databases
Providing guidance for the development, maintenance, and performance of scalable systems
Supporting both iterative and traditional software development, unit, and integration testing
Maintaining and verifying the reliability of database backups

Experience: Required Background/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
4+ years of DBA experience with PostgreSQL, DB2, and SQL Server
4+ years of database development experience including tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, and indexes
2+ years experience with database scripting including Perl, psql, and T-SQL
2+ years experience in database optimization and tuning
2+ years of experience administering databases in both Linux and Windows server environments
Demonstrated record of creating and maintaining large, scalable databases supporting both custom-built and third-party applications
Proven experience in iterative system design, development, and implementation
Experience working with open source solutions

Major Pluses to have

Experience programming in Java
Experience working in an agile environment
