Our client is looking for a contract Systems Administrator to help analyze, design, and implement their engineering lab network infrastructure. Main focus will be to maintain the network hardware and software, monitor the network to ensure its availability to all systems and users and perform the necessary maintenance to support the network availability. Candidate will be responsible for the deployment and maintenance of our regression and development machines that are relied upon for internal operations as well as developing tools and dashboards to aid in monitoring and maximizing utilization. The ideal candidate is team-oriented and a fast learner who combines excellent operational judgment with network design, management, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities:
. Gathering network requirements for a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
. Designing new network infrastructure to facilitate long-term growth.
. Develop scalable network designs, solutions, and policies.
. Deploying network connectivity and hardware for engineering labs.
. Working with and/or developing network monitoring and automation tools.
. Install, activate, and test routers, switches, and other network equipment.
. Review and upgrade router/switch/network management software as needed.
. Develop tools to monitor and maintain systems.
. Make contributions to our products that improve system administration, monitoring and operations.
. Work with the engineering team to diagnose application errors and maintain a production environment with maximum up-time and stability.
. Install and configure hardware such as motherboards, CPU's, memory, disk drives, and power supplies.
. Configure system and network parameters.
. Monitor system stability and performance.
. Ensure 24x7 operation.
. Write comprehensive documentation.

Requirements:
. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent).
. 2+ years of experience in supporting, implementing and/or designing large wide area networks.
. In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals and commonly-used routing protocols.
. Must have good LAN and WAN troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of network security.
. Multiple years of Linux or UNIX system administration experience.
. Programming scripting ability (bourne, bash, perl, python, C).
. Excellent verbal and written skills with outstanding customer service.
. Strong knowledge of industry-standard best practices for cable dressing and management, including fiber-optic cable.
