Web QA Engineer in NEW YORK, NY

Robert Half Technology is currently recruiting for a Web QA Engineer for a three months assignment in New York City. There is possibility that this will extend into a longer term contract as well.
The Quality Assurance Engineer performs hands-on QA work against web applications supporting our online businesses.
She/He will work with a development team to review requirements, write test plans, scripts and documentation; execute functional, regression, and stress tests; manage issues using issue tracking software;

[ Responsibilities ]
Testing
* Perform "hands-on" testing for all the different testing types
* Develop, publish and maintain documentation for all QA tasks
* Develop/maintain test specifications, write test cases, scripts
* Troubleshoot test issues, record results, track issues to resolution
* Generate and prioritize bug/issue reports
* Participate in product readiness and release decisions

Process
* Review business and functionality requirements for clarity and testability
* Work with team to define and estimate work, build process and release management
* Help define and improve SDLC process

[ Required Skills, Knowledge ]
* SDLC - specifically QA cycles and principles
* RDBMS concepts and software build processes
* Different Testing types (Functionality, Integration, Regression, UAT, System, Backend)
* Understanding of web technology and applications and HTTP protocol
* Hands-on experience with testing and tracking tools:
- Functional Automation (WinRunner, QuickTestPro)
- Load/performance (e.g. LoadRunner, SQA, WAPT)
- Issue tracking (TestDirector, Mantis or any open-source tool)
- Source-control (CVS, etc.)

[ Qualifications/Experience ]
* 2-5 years experience as QA Engineer
* Ability to write clear, concise technical and testing documentation
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical team members
* Ability to understand complex technical applications at a deep level
* Understanding of relevant processes & technologies (e.g. SDLC, QA process, databases)
